About The Mahanandi Temple:

         Mahanandi, Sri Mahanandiswara swamy temple is a well-known ancient temple placed in Nallamala forest hills and 15 km far from Nandyal metropolis in Kurnool district ,Andhrapradesh country. The Shivalinga in this temple is “Swayambuvu”.  The shiva lingam found in this temple is unique in form due to the fact it's miles like a hard uncut rock with two cavities.

The History of the Mahanandi temple is as follows. In The preceding centuries there's a king named Nanda belongs to the vicinity of Nandyal. The King nanda desires to make abhiseka for lord shiva as soon as and ordered to deliver milk. Among all the cows one haven’t giving milk and returning with empty each day. Then the Cowherd belongs to Gopavaram village had accompanied the cow into the forest and conceal himself watching the cow.
